In the following article, you will learn why sustainability makes sense and what you should generally bear in mind.
It is about protecting our environment and resources and preserving them in the long term. This also includes being aware of the effects our actions have on the environment and how we can positively influence them.
An important aspect of this is to pay attention to the production processes. Here it is a matter of questioning and optimising everything anew. This means that companies should not only design their products to be durable and of high quality, but also make sure that spare parts are available and that the products can be repaired. Because the longer a product is used, the fewer resources are consumed and the less waste is produced.
It's about using new technologies and materials that are environmentally friendly and conserve resources. An example of this is the series made from recycled material of plastic PET beverage bottles, which is marketed by TROIKA under the name GO URBAN. This series is made of certified, so-called rPET and shows that sustainability is also possible in the area of design and product creation.
Another important aspect is that we need to look more into the future and think longer term. This also includes companies drawing up their carbon footprint and optimising their processes to reduce their environmental impact. Because this is the only way we can ensure that future generations will still find an environment worth living in.
Overall, it can be said that sustainability is a very complex issue in which many factors have to be taken into account. We can all contribute by being aware of the effects our actions have and how we can positively influence them.

"The competition has several backgrounds: We want to point out the future obligations of an EU-wide reporting system (taxonomy), promote a holistic view of the interrelationships and motivate to take the first steps," explain the initiators. "With the sustainability award 'Green Wave', good examples are made visible that invite imitation. On the other hand, it shows that sustainability and economic efficiency can go hand in hand very well."
A total of 36 projects from very different areas were submitted to the jury. "We were very impressed by the diverse commitment in the region and had very intensive discussions. The EU's sustainability goals served as orientation for the evaluation and an attempt was made to consider which projects go beyond the 'expectable standard'. In addition, the measures were considered in relation to the size and core task of the institution or company," the jury explained. All the projects submitted were good examples and role models for others.... (Excerpt from: https://www.wfg-ww.de/gruene-welle-projekte/)
